Managing Your Subscriptions
Your Subscriptions page lives under Account > Subscriptions and lists every
recurring subscription you hold — across every merchant you support — on a single
screen.
The Subscriptions List
Each row shows:
- Merchant — which creator or business is billing you
- Subscribable — what you're subscribed to (a product, a membership tier, etc.)
- Amount — the price per billing period
- Status — Active, Trialing, Past Due, Paused, Canceled, or Ended
- Next Billing — when the next charge will happen
Click Manage on any row to open the subscription's detail page.
Pausing a Subscription
Need a break without losing your place? On the detail page, click
Pause subscription. Billing stops immediately, but your subscription stays
linked to you — you can resume from the same page whenever you're ready.
Paused subscriptions don't accumulate charges or prorate. When you resume, billing
restarts on the merchant's normal schedule.
Canceling a Subscription
Click Cancel at period end on the detail page. Subscriber-initiated cancels
always run at the end of the current period — you keep full access through the
time you already paid for, and billing stops after that.
If you need immediate cancellation (e.g., for fraud or a billing dispute), contact
the merchant directly. Merchants can cancel immediately from their side.
Updating Your Payment Method
On the subscription detail page, click Update payment method. You'll be taken
to Stripe's secure Customer Portal, where you can:
- Add a new card
- Change the default payment method
- Remove an old card
- Download past invoices as PDF
Changes take effect on the next billing cycle. Your card details are stored by
Stripe, never by Equipoise.
Payment History
The detail page shows the most recent payments for the subscription, with date,
amount, and status. For a full invoice archive, open the Stripe Customer Portal
via Update payment method — every invoice is listed there and downloadable.
Subscriptions vs Recurring Donations
Both live under Account, but they're separate:
- Subscriptions are recurring purchases of an ongoing benefit (a membership, a paid podcast archive, a box-of-the-month).
- Recurring Donations are philanthropic support — no product expected in return, often tax-deductible if the creator is a nonprofit.
They're tracked separately because they have different tax, billing, and reporting
treatment.
